Ms. Riddle wants to share her Winter Concert flyer so you can save the date! Whether your student is in band or not, it's a wonderful event and we hope to see you there!

Check out what the 6th graders in Ms. Patterson's Intermediate 101 class are up to! She writes, "Here's a pic of a sixth grade class doing a Google Meet interview with a parent about their career in software development for our career exploration unit. All of our sixth grade classes have been participating in these interviews in which they get to ask questions to learn more about possible careers for themselves."
So cool! Thanks for sharing, Ms. Patterson!

Ms. Healey is our lead counselor at ILIS- but she also takes on many other special projects. Every year she creates an art instillation involving positive messaging and our students! This year is no different, and it's something the whole school sees every day.
She assigned our 5th grade classes with a project focusing on starting each day with a grateful heart. Students reflected about what gratitude looks like in their daily lives and practice simple ways to notice and appreciate the good around them. This display is a daily reminder to build a habit of positivity each day at ILIS. The messages are wonderful and we appreciate the time and hard work that it took to make this project come to life!

Happy Thursday, Warriors! Last week Ms. Tomy's class had a fun project! Students created ornaments for their ELA Christmas tree and chose a topic they learned this year to write about on each ornament. It was a festive and meaningful way to celebrate their learning!
Enjoy the rest of your week, Warrior Family! And don't forget to wear your Ugly Sweaters tomorrow!

We have a message from our friends at ILMS! Ms. Jackson and her Proteam class came to visit and observe our students last week. It was so much fun to have the students back in our halls, and our kids really enjoyed having the big kids visit, too!
Ms. Jackson writes, "Indian Land Middle School is taking part in the launch of the states newest 'Proteam' curriculum. Proteam is an encore where students learn life and leadership skills with a focus on one day becoming educators or exceptional members of society. In a way, it is like the middle school version of Teacher Cadets.
One of our upcoming modules wants the students to observe teachers in their elements while they are teaching. Here are some photos of ILMS Proteam students conducting teacher observations. Thank you to ILIS for hosting us, we learned so much!"
Thank YOU for coming, Proteam! It was great to have you!

Lancaster County School District is aware of a false social media post regarding school closure. ALL schools and offices will operate on a normal schedule on Tuesday, November 11, 2025. We are continuing to monitor the weather and will post an update if needed. Again, all schools and offices will operate on normal schedule on Tuesday, November 11, 2025.

Last Wednesday, Lancaster County had auditions for the LCSD Honor Band. These auditions were for 6th - 8th grade band students throughout the entire district. We had nine wonderfully talented ILIS Band students audition. Of those nine, three of our 6th graders made it into the Honor Band: Kendall Powell, Alex Vertizan and Zada Disher-Schindel. We want to congratulate them, and Ms. Riddle, on this amazing acheivemnt! Give these students, and all of our 6th graders that auditioned, a round of applause!

One of our newer encore classes is called "Intermediate 101". This class is all about learning skills to help students succeed at school AND in life. Ms. Patterson shared these photos from her class writing, "In Intermediate 101, our 5th graders are learning how to handle emergencies, including basic first aid and CPR skills!"
What a great thing to learn, Ms. Patterson! Thank you for teaching this to our students!

As promised, here are our Warriors having the time of their lives on the new Four Square court during recess! 5th and 6th graders were playing in this beautiful weather, hopefully taking a lot of pride in the fact that their hard work during Boosterthon made this possible.
We love to see those Booster dollars at work. Enjoy the rest of your night, tell the kids to turn off the alarms tomorrow, and don't forget to dine out at Habit Burger on Wednesday!!

Last month, students in Mrs. Goodwin's sixth grade science class had a fun hands on experiment!
She writes: " My students are learning about states of matter. To better understand water's surface tension property, students used pipettes to drop single drops of water onto pennies. First they predicted how many drops of water they could get on the penny before it overflowed. Then, they did the experiment to see how many they could actually get. Most students were surprised that their actual number of drops far exceeded their prediction!"
This is a classic experiment that you probably did in your own science class way back in the 1900s! And it's a classic for a reason- informative, exciting and sometimes, a bit shocking! Thank you for sharing, Ms. Goodwin!
