We want to send a HUGE Congratulations to the Odyssey of the Mind team who captured first place in South Carolina in their division! They did a great job. Many don't realize that because of the rules, team members are required to creat everything themselves - including writing the script, creating their set, and making all their costumes. What an incredible feat, Warriors, its' truly an awesome accomplishment!

Help us celebrate the following members of the team:
Wylder Duncan
Dean Baksha
Shrihi Yalamati
Zada Disher
Gavin Kipper
Dean Baksh

Last week Ms. Anderson brought a very popular book to life for her student's math lesson!

She writes: "On Friday we played 'The Hunger Games' in math class as a way to learn about probability and see who had the odds in their favor.

Each student drew a 'district' and we discussed the probability of being chosen to participate in the games based on their gender and the number of people in each district.

Students were able to compare their odds to students from other districts. This helped students understand that as the total number of outcomes increases, your chances (of being chosen) decrease. "

Great lesson, Ms. Anderson! Thank you for sharing!

Ms. White's 5th Grade ELA class has finished reading an incredible novel called "Number The Stars" by Lois Lowry. It was written in 1989 and is about the escape of a family of Jews from Copenhagen, Denmark during World War II.

She writes: "We are wrapping up our Number the Stars novel study by creating a one pager about the novel. Students have been hard at work this week using the text, their knowledge from our lessons and discussions, and their creativity to complete this task. They have been so engaged throughout this unit of study and I'm so proud of them!! "

These one pagers are spectacular! Thank you for sharing Ms. White, and fantastic job Warriors!

Ms. Pittman's 5th grade ELA students were working hard this week, as they always do! She writes: "Students in my classes participated in a figurative language search! Each group had to search through the novel we are currently reading - Number the Stars - for examples of figurative language. They then had to write their examples on their chart paper and the group with the most (correct) examples, won, of course, jolly ranchers! ⭐"

We've got a throwback post- taking it all the way to NOVEMBER 2025! Our beloved Ms. Jollie, 5th Grade Math & Science teacher, sent this to be shared with families, and somehow it got lost in the shuffle!

Her students worked on a "Genius Project" where they got to use any topic they had learned about thus far, and then dive even deeper into it. Then they created a unique way to teach the class, including with songs, skits, legos, posters and presentations!

Thank you so much for sharing, Ms. Jollie!

Happy Sunday, Warrior Families! Ms. Arner's 6th grade social studies classes were taken back to the mid-18th century at the end of February!

She writes: "My classes have been learning about the Industrial Revolution all week! They were assigned an activity to prove which was faster: to produce goods to sell the cottage industry out of one's home, or the assembly line? They worked as “factories” and had two minutes to see how many paper airplanes each factory could produce in the time one person could produce out of their home. Well, their predictions were right, the assembly line/ factory produce between 8-10 within the 2 minutes while the cottage industry only averaged 2-3. They had fun working together at the job each of them were assigned! "

Thank you for sharing Ms. Arner!

We have another fun activity from Ms. Patterson's Intermediate 101 class! She writes, "Last week we talked about simple etiquette to follow when dining out and how to order food for ourselves. The students got to take turns being waiters/waitresses and 'taking' one another's orders so we could put the skills to practice."

This is a great lifeskill, great work everyone! Enjoy your Saturday, Warriors!
