We want to congratulate our Spelling Bee winner for the second year in a row, Ayushmaan Gilotra from Ms. Komorous’s class! His winning word was "solemnly". Our school held individual “bees” in the classrooms, and the winner from each class joined in for our championship. In total, there were 50 kids in the competition and Ayushmaan won during the 10th round. Our runner up is Kushaagra Rana from Ms. Norton’s class! Congrats to all our participants, and a special “g-o-o-d l-u-c-k” to Ayushmaan who will represent us at the District Spelling Bee on the 30th!
We also want to thank Ms. Harris, Ms. Morrison, Ms. Fleischman, Ms. Gorrell and Ms. Nugent for moderating the event!

"Please help our school support Special Olympics South Carolina by making a donation through our team's fundraising page for the 2026 Walnut Creek Polar Plunge which will take place on Feb 7th 2026 at 3:00pm. Even a small donation will help our school achieve our goal! ILIS has not received the Coolest School Trophy, and I know our kids deserve to have that trophy at our school! They are the most spirited, supportive, kind, driven, and goal oriented in all of Lancaster County! Let's support our school, our students, and our students that will be participating in the Special Olympics South Carolina! Let's show all of Lancaster County that ILIS is the best school in all the land!!! Thank you so much for your support for an amazing cause!

We started off 2026 with a beautiful day back on campus! We hope kids enjoyed their new encore classes and seeing all their teachers and friends after a long break. Have a great night, Warriors!

We want to send a huge thank you to our PTO! Whether it's storing a staff member's lunch, holding leftovers after a big staff meal, or stocking ice pops for Boosterthon (and other) rewards, having a working fridge in our Family Room is essential. Ours was on its way out, and PTO came to the rescue to get us a new one. We are so grateful!

A Message from Mr. Miller:

It's almost 2026! Our staff has had such a great second half to 2025 with your students during the first semester. We love our Warriors!!
Are you doing anything fun for New Year's Eve? Any traditions or celebrations that your family takes part in? Whatever you're doing tomorrow, we hope you have a safe and enjoyable evening ringing in the new year!

Time flies when you're having fun on break, and we hope everyone is enjoying their time together. But we truly can't wait to start the next semester with your amazing kids! Make sure they're prepared and ready to go when we come back in January!

During the last week of school, our Band and Chorus classes held their Winter Concerts!
For our 5th grade Band students, this was the first concert in which they have ever performed in with their instruments. Having only had themin hand for a few short months, we are beyond impressed with the growth they have shown. Our 6th grade students have continued to build on the foundation they established last year and were so impressive. Ms. Riddle and Ms. Gavigan have done a wonderful job working with the band.
Our Chorus classes sang a beautiful selection of holiday and winter music, featuring layers of melody and harmony you might not expect from a younger chorus composed of 5th and 6th grade students. Ms. Proctor has truly challenged her students to be the best they can be, and their performance reflected that dedication!
Great work, Band and Chorus classes, and congratulations on a performance well done!

Another Thanksgiving Throwback smack dab in the middle of The Holiday Season!
Ms. Hensley's 5th Grade ELA class has done this project for a few years, and it's always a favorite at The Intermediate School. She writes, "My classes learned all about the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade today! We read Balloons Over Broadway and learned all about the Master Puppeteer, Tony Sarg, who created the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. Students then created their own balloon that
they would have featured in the parade!"

Good Morning, and Happy FIRST DAY of Winter Break! We are going to post some throw backs over the next two weeks for you to enjoy. The Posting Party is starting with a Thanksgiving post in honor of the fact that Thanksgiving does fall under "The Holiday Season"! Technically. ;)
Ms. Boykin’s classes read a book about Fall Recipes and made homemade applesauce! They created a cookbook that they were able to use to assist with their Thanksgiving meals! Looks great, Warriors!

We love our Ms. Mack! She works in ISS and while she has only been with us for a single semester, she fits right in like she's been here forever. We are so glad to have her with us, and appreciate all the fun she brings to our school!

We can never say enough how much we love our PTO! They are always on campus helping out, planning incredible events & surprises, and have dedicated so much time to make sure our students, families and staff make wonderful memories while they're at ILIS. Today was no different- they came in with these awesome (and SUPER on trend!!!) Quarter Zips! We are warm, we are cozy, and we definitely feel oh-so-loved. THANK YOU PTO for ordering, sorting, rolling and delivering these amazing gifts! We wear them with Warrior Pride! 💛💙

Ms. Riddle wants to share her Winter Concert flyer so you can save the date! Whether your student is in band or not, it's a wonderful event and we hope to see you there!

Check out what the 6th graders in Ms. Patterson's Intermediate 101 class are up to! She writes, "Here's a pic of a sixth grade class doing a Google Meet interview with a parent about their career in software development for our career exploration unit. All of our sixth grade classes have been participating in these interviews in which they get to ask questions to learn more about possible careers for themselves."
So cool! Thanks for sharing, Ms. Patterson!
